Call an experienced San Antonio attorney immediately after an DWI arrest.
Many states have what is known as ALR (administrative license revocation) or ALS (administrative license suspension). Both are basically the same punishment, it’s just that different states have different names for it.
An ALR or ALS is either the immediate suspension of a driver’s license or an automatic suspension if you fail to request a hearing within a brief time frame, after failure of a breathalyzer (intoxilyzer) or blood test or refusal to take the test. This is an administrative punishment and it is in addition to any criminal punishments that may come about from the conviction including license suspension, jail time, probation and/or fines and fees. If you have had your license taken due to an ALS or ALR you need to contact a San Antonio DWI defense attorney right away. ALR and ALS have a due process built in where the driver can have the revocation or suspension dismissed, or the revocation or suspension to never start, if he or she acts within the time allotted. You must act within quickly in order to rescind or fight your suspension.
The overturning of an ALS or ALR can be an important first step in the outcome of your DWI case. The hearing for an ALS or ALR can also allow your attorney to get valuable information about your case that is difficult to get in any other manner. Do research, get the facts, and make an informed decision. A driving while intoxicated conviction can drastically alter your current standard of living. There is much that can be done to fight a driving while intoxicated. Find an experienced DWI defense lawyer who is able to aggressively fight for you. It is important to hire a lawyer experienced in defending DWI cases. A DWI conviction can lead to license suspension, a criminal record, probation, hefty fines, increased insurance costs, and jail time.
